What is PSELab software application?
"PSE Lab" is a freeware Windows application useful to estimate power spectrum
and time frequency distribution of signals.
What are methods used in the program to estimate power
spectrum of signals?
To estimate power spectrum, the application uses following methods:
- periodogram;
- using the simplex algorithm to estimation of complex exponential model
optimal parameters;
- using the quasi-Newton algorithm to estimation of complex exponential model
optimal parameters;
- least squares Prony method;
- modified least squares Prony method;
- Burg method;
- modified covariance method;
- MUSIC.
Most these methods are described in the book "Digital Spectral Analysis with Applications"
by S. L. Marple.
What are methods used in the program to estimate
time frequency distribution of non-stationary signals?
To estimate time frequency distribution, the application uses following methods:
- short Time Fourier transform signals (Winograd algorithm);
- pseudo-Wigner-Ville transform signals;
- using the simplex algorithm to estimation of complex exponential model
optimal parameters in sliding window;
- using the quasi-Newton algorithm to estimation of complex exponential model
optimal parameters in sliding window;
- least squares Prony method calculation in sliding window;
- Burg method calculation in sliding window;
- modified covariance method calculation in sliding window;
- MUSIC calculation in sliding window.
How much does it cost?
It is distributed as freeware.
What are the hardware/software requirements for PSELab?
PSELab requires:
- IBM compatible (P4 recommended);
- 512 MB RAM or higher (2048 MB or higher recommended);
- Windows XP or later.
